Self taught artist, Frankie Romero, born in Santa Cruz and raised in Aromas, CA. Drawing and painting has always been my love in life since a very young age.
I’m inspired by all art I see, from fashion design, sculpture, installations, doodles, abstract, color and texture, to the great masters and fine art. I primarily work with acrylic paint, spray paint, wood burning and pen and paper.
I don’t stick with one particular style. My works consist of canvas painting, painting one-off skateboards, wood burning, and custom painted gear. I’ll be getting back into watercolor painting and lino block printing and I’m always open to new artistic creative adventures and learning all I can.
Through the years I’ve had the honor to work on several public and private murals in my home town and a couple of street mandalas in a neighboring town. I have also donated several paintings to local charity fundraisers.
Sometimes it’s good to paint freely with no goal in mind, experimenting and finding something new. Often the paintings that don’t start out the best eventually become the great ones. Those are the paintings that I learn from and love. As I work I try to watch what is happening to the piece and let it tell me when it is complete.
